Texas Land Conservation Conference 2024

Ties to La Tierra is blessed to be part of the Indigenization of the conservation movement. In doing so, we joined the Texas Land Trust Council's Conservation Conference in so-called Austin Texas on Yanawana.
We are the past, present, and future of the conservation movement, especially the Texas Conservation Movement.

Indigenous Heritage Celebration

Ties to La Tierra Founder danced with her Mexica Kapulli at the Corpus Christi Natural Science and History Museum for their Indigenous Heritage Celebration. We helped educate the community about traditional Mexica stories of creation that are highlighted in the danzas we share together with permission from Mother Earth.

Winter Tree Pruning Workshop

Ties to La Tierra joined For the Greater Good (FTGG) to tend to the adopted park that they have been tending to for several years. Since then, FTGG has established a much needed green space that is a mini food forest and nests native shade trees for the local residents. We learned how to properly trim the trees to prepare them for the winter season and any unexpected freezes they may experience.

Soil Testing South Texas Farmland

Ties to La Tierra provided financial and technical assistance for a up and coming local farming family to get their soil tested for the next grow season.

Drum Making Workshop

Mexica Kapulli community came out to learn how to make huehuetls (traditional Mexica drums) and the one they made will be the next main ceremonial drum. We honor our new Grandfather huehuetl.

No Desal Rally

Texas Coastal Bend allies marched together to stand up against desalination infrastructure which is fossil fuel expansion that seeks to increase water supply for the polluting industry. The proposed and unwanted desalination plant would be built in the historic Black and Indigenous neighborhood, Hillcrest.

Farm Work Days at Terra Madre Farm

Ties to La Tierra knows how important it is to help where needed and get our hands dirty and that is why we show up and help Terra Madre Farm since they supply locally grown food to the Gulf Coast community of South Texas.

2023 Turtle Bay Powwow

Ties to La Tierra joined Indigenous Peoples of the Coastal Bend as a panelist, danzante, and assistant for the First annual Turtle Bay Powwow held at Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Karankawa land.

End Medical Deportations Rally

On December 22 2023, Philadelphia City Council passed and the mayor signed a bill to end medical deportations, making it the first US city to do so.

Dias De Los Muertos and Danza Vigil Ceremony

Cemanahuac Danza group held a Dia De Los Muertos Vigil to honor the Palestinians who have lost their lives since the Nakba and are currently experiencing genocide from the continued practices of colonial systems and practices on their ancestral lands.

US Climate Action Network- JEDI Retreat

USCAN members and staff came together to beta test the proposed new USCAN curriculum for skill building and learning on being actively anti racist and fighting climate change in a just and equitable way.

On this personal and political journey she learns from Indigenous activists across three continents.

Cemanahuac Danza Ceremony

Cemanahuac Danzantes shared prayer through dance to honor generations to come, ancestors, the land, and its protectors (climate justice warriors) to open Climate Convergence on Lenapehoking.

2023 Indigenous Peoples Summit

The 2023 Indigenous Peoples Summit took place on Wed Aug 9 and Thu Aug 10 in Omaha, Nebraska -- the ancestral home of the Umonhon (Omaha) People.
The themes this year were Indigenous Womanhood, Seedkeeping, and Rematriation.

A Healthy You Wellness Summit

A wellness summit held on August 4th and 5th on the topics of plant based nutrition, the history of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color's food system and how injustices brought health disparities (like heart related disease and illnesses) to our communities, we also learned about various methods on how to be preventative and restorative to our health, along with much much more.
